Golden Oak Barbecue & Taproom is the downtown Phoenix collaboration between Mesa favorites, Oro Brewing and Nicky’s Barbecue. They came to us looking to fire up awareness for the launch of Golden Oak, their first full-service barbecue restaurant.

To help them stand out in Phoenix’s competitive dining scene, we developed a multi-layered PR campaign that told the story of two local favorites joining forces to create a new kind of barbecue destination. Our strategy teased the restaurant’s upcoming debut, built anticipation among media and influencers and culminated in an official grand opening announcement that showcased Golden Oak’s handcrafted menu, signature cocktails and warm, community-driven atmosphere.
Each touchpoint highlighted Golden Oak’s authentic hospitality, creative approach to barbecue and carefully curated beer selection. Through storytelling, visual assets and targeted media outreach, we created excitement that positioned Golden Oak as both a culinary standout and a gathering place for food lovers throughout downtown Phoenix.
The results were hot off the press. We generated 47 media hits, 623 million impressions and $168,835 in publicity value in
just three months. This success came from strategic press releases, valuable media relationships and tailored media and
influencer experiences.Â
The campaigns built awareness, credibility and anticipation, showing that thoughtful storytelling, experiential PR and strong media relationships can turn a new restaurant and brewery into a must-visit destination.
