Facebook: Boosted posts vs. ads

Facebook is considered one of the top advertising channels online. You’ve boosted a post before — is that advertising on Facebook? Technically yes, since you’re spending money in order to extend the reach of your Facebook post. But Facebook also has another platform called Facebook Ads Manager. Here are the two main differentiators when it comes to boosted posts and Facebook ads.

Boosted post targeting is basic. You can select things like demographics, locations, interests and behaviors. Facebook Ads Manager gives you more robust options like uploading customer lists and building lookalike lists.

Boosted posts are good for improving an organic post’s overall reach, but Facebook Ads Manager improves reach to a highly targeted audience.
