There are countless social media tools and resources available to the modern marketer: measuring and analytical tools, scheduling tools, content resources, photo editing and graphic creation tools, design resources…and the list goes on and on. As the social media strategist at The James Agency, let me share a few of my favorites with you.
1. ICONOSQUARE
This website is perfect for anyone who manages Instagram accounts, personal or professional. ICONOSQUARE allows you to track everything that has been happening with your account…how many new followers you have, if anyone has unfollowed you, how many total likes and comments you’ve received, how much your followers like the media you’re posting and how much engagement comes from beyond your followers (aka those who engage with you, but aren’t following you).
2. Twitter Analytics & Facebook Insights
Although these are not third party applications, they are ridiculously helpful to anyone who wants to measure their growth on these platforms. Both of these tools track everything that has been happening on the profiles you manage…follower demographics, impressions and post reach, engagement and post popularity. These tools are very helpful when communicating with clients about the impact of their social media presence.
3. Latergramme
Being organized is very important when you are managing multiple accounts, and it can be easy to let a client or two slip through the cracks when you are managing 10. Latergramme allows you to schedule Instagram posts across multiple accounts. Although this app doesn’t post for you, it sends a reminder at the time you scheduled your posts for and all you have to do is open the application, choose your filter and post to your Instagram account.
4. Tweetdeck
This website/desktop app is a social media manager’s dream come true. It allows you to manage multiple Twitter accounts at once, as well as schedule your tweets. Tweetdeck also allows you to track different hashtags and accounts you are interested in. It is one of the most powerful tools for real-time tracking, organizing and engagement.
5. Repost
Twitter has Retweet, Instagram has Repost. This app allows you to repost photos and videos from your Instagram feed or likes. Repost also has the capability for you to bookmark images and videos to repost later.
6. Afterlight
This is my absolute image editing tool. With 74 unique, fully adjustable filters, 78 natural textures, and 128 easily scalable, custom shaped frames and hand-drawn wallpapers, you have the ability to make even the simplest image into something spectacular. Afterlight also allows you to share directly to Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
7. Word Swag
This is the best tool for adding text to images. There are over 30 different text styles with countless combinations. Word Swag is like having a graphic designer in your pocket and at the touch of your finger.
